Comet Yxlon FF85 CT
Overview

About the FF85 CT

The FF85 CT is the largest and most versatile system of the FF series. It combines up to two X-ray tubes with a flat-panel detector (digital detector array, DDA) and a line detector array (LDA), so one system can cover micro-CT of small components and high-energy CT of large, dense parts. Operators switch between 2D radioscopy, 3D cone-beam CT and fan-beam CT.

Available sources range from 190 kV nano-focus and 225 kV / 300 kV micro-focus tubes to 450 kV meso- and mini-focus and 600 kV mini-focus tubes. The Comet Yxlon CTScan 3 line detector (254 µm pixel pitch, designed for up to 600 kV) reduces scatter for large or dense components. The optional HDP target is also available for the 225 kV tube.

The system is built on a granite base with up to 7 manipulation axes, field-of-view extensions and helical / dual-helical CT. Comet Yxlon offers several configurations; the published maximum values — sample diameter up to 1800 mm, height up to 3000 mm, weight up to 1000 kg and FDD up to 3700 mm — refer to the configuration for extra-large parts (e.g. complete EV battery packs), not to every FF85 CT. Full specifications of each configuration are in the official brochure and flyer.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Does every FF85 CT handle 1000 kg parts?

No. 1000 kg, 1800 mm diameter and 3000 mm height are the published values for the configuration for extra-large parts. The usable scan volume also depends on detector, source and trajectory.

Why combine a flat-panel and a line detector?

The flat panel gives fast cone-beam CT; the line detector gives fan-beam CT with lower scatter and better image quality on large, dense parts.
