About the eddyliner S
The eddyliner S is the compact screen-based instrument for single-channel structure testing — one coil at one location on the part. Calibration follows ibg's good-part-only concept: a suitable number of correct parts is recorded and the tolerance zones are generated automatically.
It is compatible with all coils and probes of the ibg system family and is commonly paired with UNISort sorting gates or integrated into test machines, including the ibg high-speed ball structure sorter.
Eddy-current structure testing is comparative: the instrument learns tolerance zones from known good, correctly heat-treated reference parts and reports whether each part matches that reference. It does not output an absolute hardness value or a direct case-depth measurement; parts that fail should be examined metallurgically or with a conventional hardness test to establish the cause.
