Overview

About the Structure & Hardness Test Instruments

The structure test family covers every scale of heat-treatment verification, from the single-channel eddyguard S and eddyliner S to the modular, multi-channel eddyvisor S. All instruments share ibg's Preventive Multi-Frequency Technology (PMFT), Simultaneous Harmonic Analysis and good-part-only teaching, so a set-up is created by recording a batch of known good parts rather than by tuning frequencies and gains manually.

Typical tasks are confirming the result of hardening, tempering or case hardening, detecting soft spots and annealing faults, and sorting out material mix-ups on fasteners, ball studs, shafts, gears, rings and similar safety-relevant parts.

Eddy-current structure testing is comparative: the instrument learns tolerance zones from known good, correctly heat-treated reference parts and reports whether each part matches that reference. It does not output an absolute hardness value or a direct case-depth measurement; parts that fail should be examined metallurgically or with a conventional hardness test to establish the cause.
