Solutions
Be certain of the material before you commit it to a part
Mixed, mislabelled or out-of-spec material is one of the most expensive mistakes in manufacturing. We help you verify composition and properties with confidence.
Material Identification
Incoming bars, billets, castings or finished components arrive with certificates that may not match reality — or with no certificate at all. You need to know the exact alloy grade and condition before the material enters production or ships to a customer.
Using the wrong alloy can cause premature failure, rejected lots, recalls and liability exposure. For safety-critical and regulated parts, undocumented material is simply not acceptable. Reliable identification protects both your process and your reputation.
Approaches worth considering
There is rarely a single right answer. These are the methods most relevant to this challenge — the best choice depends on your part and goals.
Optical emission spectrometry (OES)
Fast, quantitative elemental analysis to confirm exact alloy grade — stationary for the lab, mobile for the shop floor.
Hardness testing
Verify mechanical condition and heat-treatment state as a complement to chemistry.
Eddy current sorting
Quickly separate mixed batches by conductivity and material state without sample preparation.
Positive material verification (PMI)
Documented checks that the right material is in the right part, with traceable records.
The technologies behind these methods
Explore each technology in depth — what it does, where it's used and the equipment categories involved.
Spectrometers (OES)
Optical emission spectrometry delivers fast elemental analysis — so you verify alloys and control composition from melt to finished part.
