EMUS — engineering quality control

Solutions

Measure the surface that decides how parts perform

Sealing, friction, wear and fatigue all start at the surface. We help you quantify the surface properties that determine whether a part works.

The manufacturing challenge

Surface Measurement

Functional surfaces — seals, bearings, cutting edges, sliding contacts — must meet roughness and texture specifications. Visual checks and gauges cannot quantify these properties, and unverified surfaces lead to leaks, wear and warranty problems.

Why this challenge matters

Surface condition directly controls how parts seal, slide, wear and resist fatigue. Measuring it makes the difference between a component that lasts and one that fails early — and turns surface specifications into something you can actually prove.

Possible inspection methods

Approaches worth considering

There is rarely a single right answer. These are the methods most relevant to this challenge — the best choice depends on your part and goals.

Contact (stylus) roughness

Traceable measurement of standard roughness and waviness parameters.

Optical / focus-variation

Non-contact 3D surface texture and microgeometry on delicate or complex features.

Edge & radius measurement

Characterise cutting-edge geometry and small radii that drive tool performance.

Process surface monitoring

Track tool wear and finish drift through repeated surface measurement.

Typical customer questions

What manufacturers usually ask us

If any of these sound familiar, a short conversation will save you a lot of trial and error.

Which parameters should I measure for my functional surface?
Do I need contact or optical surface measurement?
How do I make roughness results traceable and repeatable?
Can I detect tool wear from changes in surface finish?

Why EMUS

An engineering partner, not a product catalogue

We help you define which surface parameters matter for your function, then match contact or optical measurement to your parts and tolerances.

We start with your problem

We assess your part, defect type, tolerances and throughput before recommending any method — never the other way around.

Method-neutral advice

Because we represent multiple established manufacturers, we recommend the most suitable approach, not the only one we carry.

Complete project support

Consulting, installation, training, calibration and long-term service across the full equipment lifecycle.

Local technical support

Engineering support and communication across our markets in the Balkan region.
